Located at a height of 15,300 feet, Yumesamdong does not have any other reason to visit than its sheer beauty. Earned the nickname as Zero Point because the road leading to this point comes to an end and you cannot go any further.
The place is just filled with landscapes covered with snow offering a majestic view. Being close to the Chinese border, this place does require an Inner Line Permit to enter Zero Point. If you are a snow junkie then do not miss out on this destination on reaching Sikkim.
How to Reach Zero Point?
Zero Point is covered with a three-point tour across North Sikkim to Lachung to Yumthang Valley and then finally to Zero Point. Only registered vehicles are allowed to enter Zero Point. The best you can do is halt for a night at Lachung and then proceed for your journey to Zero Point, Sikkim.
When to Land There?
Early morning drive from Lachung will be ideal as you get a clear view at this time of the day. However, the best time to visit here is between April and May. It is advised to avoid the months of December and January since as Zero Point experiences heavy snowfall.
Sightseeing on the Way to Zero Point
Jalebi Point:
On your drive towards Zero Point, you will see an army camp. It has been named Jalebi Point. You can drink tea and munch on some snacks at the army canteen.
Himalayan Mountains:
As it is the end of the road, Zero Point is surrounded by mountains on every side. On the other side lies the Peoples Republic of China and the mountains are covered with snow throughout the year.
Presence of the Army All Around the Road:
As it is a sensitive border area, you will see armies surrounding this area. They are in charge of the borders the whole year in bad or good weather.
